DESIGN PROCESS

PLEASE READ ALL INFORMATION AS IT CONTAINS VERY IMPORTANT DETAILS REGARDING THE DESIGN PROCESS. EACH PROJECT IS SPECIFIC TO EACH CLIENT AND HAS DIFFERENT TIMELINES.  AT TIMES, PROJECT TIMELINES CAN VARY AND MAY TAKE LONGER. WE WORK INDEPENDENTLY ON EACH PROJECT AND ALL DESIGNS ARE CUSTOM AND CANNOT BE RUSHED. NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED ONCE A CUSTOM MOOD BOARD IS SENT OUT.

​Please understand that we work one-on-one with each & every client. We do NOT rush custom projects. Attention to detail + presenting you with a design that truly reflects your authentic brand is of the upmost importance to me. At this time, I am not booking RUSH projects. Thank you!

Each logo/brand development project takes approximately 3-6 weeks and web projects can take up to 6 months. All times are dependent on client response time, revisions & current design schedule. Our studio hours are Monday – Friday 9AM – 4PM CST. We do occasionally work on the weekends, but typically it is just on design work. We are closed on all Holidays. (We close from December 21st – 27th for Christmas Holidays.) All emails received during the weekend will be answered the following business day. Once the design process begins, Ashley M. Benjamin does NOT offer refunds as each item that we prepare is customized to fit each client’s needs.

LOGO + BRAND DESIGN PROCESS

1. CONSULTATION + QUESTIONNAIRE
Once you contact Ashley M. Benjamin, we will ask you to fill out the Client QA so that we can understand your vision, wants, needs, budget & timeline. It is important that you answer these questions honestly. We will use your answers to prepare a customized design plan + proposal based on your specific needs. During this time, we encourage you to ask any questions that you have regarding your upcoming project. This step is for us to build a strong & healthy foundation for our new relationship and make sure that we make a good team! Our hope is to help you to reach your full potential as a creative entrepreneur!

2. BOOKING + PAYMENTS
Now that we know that we are a perfect match for each other, we will put together a formal proposal for our project together and we will email it to you. If the customized design plan + proposal is approved by you, please respond back to me as soon as possible. This will ensure that your space is reserved on my design calendar. The next step is for you to submit your payment. If you design job is booked immediately (with no wait time), full payment is required. Please plan to pay a PayPal invoice. If you are going to be added to the design queue, a deposit is required to hold your space. *Please note that deposits + payments are non-refundable. Payment plans are dependent on the total amount of your project. If you are interested in establishing a payment plan, please contact us first.

3. FUN-WORK
Typically, there will be a small amount of wait time between this step & what happens next. So why not have a little fun and get inspired! If you have a Pinterest account, please follow Brand Candi. Then, we will follow you back. We will also create a project board just for you & your project. We will “pin” together to this board! Please let us know if you wish for your board to be “secret”, until your big reveal! This process will provide valuable insight into your personal + business style and will help us with the next step of your design process . If you do not have a Pinterest account, we encourage you to sign-up. It is a super fun website and can be used for many other purposes! If you are not interested in using Pinterest for part of your design plan, no worries! We will simply use your Client QA answers to gather inspiration from.

4. INSPIRE
Here is where your project start date really begins. The first step of the branding process is the creation of an inspiration/mood board. For most clients, this is one of the best parts of the design process! We will study your questionnaire answers + your Pinterest board. Next, we will create a color palette + a style inspiration that will set the overall tone of your new brand. Within 5-10 business days of your start date, you will receive your first draft of this inspiration board and have a chance to review and request up to 2 rounds of revisions until you are in love with the direction.

5. CREATE
Now that we have established and finalized your inspiration board, I will begin to work on creating the foundation of your new brand. The logo design process can take approximately 10 to 15 business days to complete. I ask that you PLEASE be patient. Unique designs take time to create. If you happen to need a rush job, please work out those details in Step 1. Or checkout my pre-made logos. During this phase you will receive your second draft which will consist of 3 unique logo (proof) designs. Once received, you will be asked to review and request up to 2 rounds of revisions until your are completely in love with your new design.

6. REVISE + DELIVER
It’s now time to put it all together and create your final design and your style guide/brand board! {Insert: loud squeals, confetti, sweet treats & party hats!} This guide will consist of your beautiful, unique new logo + submark + watermark, color palette, inspiration photos, social icons, patterns, fonts and any other design elements into a full branding guide format. You will have a chance to review and request up to 2 rounds of revisons on the final board. Once your approval is received, we will package up your files and send them to you via a convenient dropbox link for download. (If you are on a payment plan, please note that ALL payments must be paid in full before any files will be delivered.)

FULL BRAND + WEB DEVELOPMENT PROCESS

7. PRINT COLLATERAL + SOCIAL BRANDING
If you decide to take your business to the next level, then you probably will want to sign up to have a branding identity designed in addition to your logo. And we applaud you for making such a bold decision! There is nothing better than having tangible material to pass out to potential clients/customers and it is also important to include this material in your products/packaging. Effective design will deliver your marketing message in your print collateral clearly and concisely and establish an emotional response to your brand. So in this step, we will take your newly designed logo design and continue it throughout your print collateral and social media design (business card, business letterhead/notecard, envelopes, stamp, hangtag, stickers, Facebook and Twitter page designs, etc.) to complete your seamless new look.  Your files are delivered in print ready pdf form. At this time, Brand Candi does not offer print services, but we will be happy to direct you to a few resources to get you started!

8. WEBSITE DESIGN
Your website establishes your online reputation and can help establish credibility. This is an important step and one that is recommended to all of my clients. We will work hard to create a website for your business that is creative, beautiful & ready to impress your visitors! If you plan to purchase a website design, you will need to complete the website questionnaire and start working on compiling all of your content for each page. All site photography and content is due prior to website mock-up completion and before we go to the development stages (all files can be shared by dropbox folder). *Please note: Any stock photography must be provided by the client, unless otherwise arranged. Only your personal images, copyright free images or images with a creatives commons license will be permitted. Brand Candi will provide these design elements in certain cases.

During this step, the final mockup of the home page and all interior pages are completed and approved by you before moving onto the development phase. Any delays in content may delay your project and bump it back into my design queue. If any changes are requested after mockup approval, they will billed separately (hourly rate is applied). We welcome any suggestions for your website design, but please note that all websites are unique and include various customized items/objects and may not be able to be replicated or reproduced for certain platforms. Please think about your wish list items, how many pages you want your website to be and most importantly what purpose you want your website to serve (e-commerce, portfolio, blog, etc.). *Please note: Hosting + Custom Domains are NOT included or provided by Brand Candi. I recommend Blue Host for this service. And we will require that this be purchased before we begin working on your website design. All account information will need to be provided to me before this process begins.

9. WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT
Once you have completely signed off on the design, your site goes into the development phase.  There will be some downtime for you during this phase as we work my magic and bring your design to life. This is a tetious and time consuming process. Hours, upon hours, can be spent making sure that you website is a true reflection of your unique business. Please be patient & kind during this phase. We promise to keep you updated on the progress. Very rarely do we offer RUSH jobs on website designs. And often times, we work with several clients throughout my design schedule.  Please allow approximately  10 weeks for the development phase. At the end of this step, you will be delivered a test site link for review.

10. LAUNCH DATE + PARTY TIME
Say what? Are we all finished? Can we finally reveal my new look!!?! Yes, of course you can! Once your site is complete, your new custom developed theme will be uploaded onto your server. We will also offer you a few tips to show you how to make updates to your site from the backend. Within the first couple of weeks of your live site, you will have the opportunity to email us with any questions you may have in regards to your new site. Anything beyond that point will be billed separately. Please keep in mind that Brand Candi is NOT responsible for changes or updates that are made by you, your staff or anyone else. Once everything is in place and all is agreed upon, we will launch your new site to the world!

But don’t forget the most important part of this process: C E L E B R A T E! If you have completed all 10 steps, then you are well on your way to discovering all of the glorious benefits and milestones of being an authentic small business owner + creative entrepreneur.
